The grand finale of the 6th National Event Planning and Creativity Competition was recently held. A student team from the Faculty of International Tourism and Management at City University of Macau—comprising Ci Yi, Ma Zixuan, and Han Yifei—under the guidance of Assistant Professor Meng Ting, won the national first prize with their proposal “2026 Wisdom Gathering: Shanghai-Hengqin Dual-City AI Traditional Chinese Medicine Innovation Conference”.
The award-winning proposal is developed based on the collaboration between Shanghai and Hengqin. It integrates Shanghai’s international exhibition resources with Hengqin’s regional advantages in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry. The result is an AI-driven TCM innovation conference rooted in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with a global vision. The proposal incorporates cutting-edge tech elements such as AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment and blockchain-based herbal medicine traceability. It also embraces new exhibition formats, including hybrid on-site and online operations and real-time interaction between dual-city sub-venues, fully demonstrating the innovative integration of technology and traditional culture.
Furthermore, the project embodies the concept of sustainable development by replacing printed materials with digital alternatives and selecting eco-friendly materials to practice green exhibition standards. It integrates local cultural elements into the design, achieving both environmental responsibility and aesthetic appeal. At the same time, the proposal focuses on the international promotion of Chinese culture, aiming to deepen medical and cultural exchanges with Portuguese-speaking countries and building a blueprint for cross-regional cooperation.
The competition was jointly organized by the Organizing Committee of the National Event Planning and Creativity Competition, Shanghai University, and the International Convention and Exhibition Society. Under the theme “High-Quality Integration, Integrated Development”, the event covered multiple industry sectors including cultural tourism, conventions and exhibitions, hospitality, and cultural creativity. Its goal is to promote the deep integration of event organization education in higher education with industrial innovation, cultivating applied talents with practical skills and innovative thinking. The competition attracted over 2,500 teams from more than 200 universities across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, setting a new record in both participation scale and the number of submitted projects.
