Supported by the Macao Foundation and organized by the Graduate School of City University of Macau (CityU), the “City University of Macau Graduate Exchange Delegation to Portuguese Universities” recently co-organized an academic seminar entitled “Cross-Ocean Dialogue: The Construction of the China-PSCs (Spanish) Platform and the Frontiers of Regional and Country-Specific Studies” in Portugal, in partnership with the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE). Several experts, scholars, and graduate student representatives from both universities attended the meeting, engaging in in-depth discussions on topics including the functional upgrade of the platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), innovation in regional and country studies, dual degrees, pathways for cross-cultural dialogue, and cutting-edge research cooperation in maritime economy and biotechnology. The seminar facilitated academic dialogue that linked the resources of Chinese and Portuguese higher education institutions, offering insights and recommendations for regional coordinated development. Both sides expressed the hope that this seminar would serve as an opportunity, grounded in Macao’s unique positioning as a “China-PSCs platform”, to align the disciplinary strengths of the two universities and explore new directions and pathways for cooperation between China-Portuguese/ Spanish-speaking countries under the new context.
