Leong On Tek, a CityU student, won two bronze medals at the 13th East Asian Karate Championship in Toyohashi, Japan, a top‑level tournament that also served as a test event for the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya.
Competing for Macao in the Men's Adult +84 kg Individual event, Leong advanced through tough rounds to secure third place. He then joined the Men's Adult Team Kumite squad with Lio Iong Seng, Xu Jia Cheng, Xu Jia Yuan and Ip Wai Him to win another bronze, bringing further honor to both Macao and CityU.
Since joining CityU, Leong has balanced his studies with rigorous training, applying classroom‑learned skills such as time management and stress regulation to competition. His achievement reflects CityU’s philosophy of “cultivating character through sports”.
CityU will continue to support students in high‑level international competitions, helping them excel in both sports and academics and contributing to the development of well‑rounded sporting talent for Macao and the nation.
