The final of China Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Digital Economy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2026 was recently held at City University of Hong Kong. The Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM) of City University of Macau (CityU) actively organized students to participate in the competition. With the supervision of Assistant Professor Sally Duan Xialei, the team composed of five students: Cai Huiting, Deng Biyao, Liang Zhongbao, Xu Yiming and Li Zhilang won a gold award with their project “The Buried Wonder Nights”. In addition, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Chen Yuanyi, the team composed of four students: Xu Zishu, Liu Runlin, Wen Keying, and Zheng Yunya won a silver award with the project “Dreamscape of Bay Innovation”. These achievements showcased the talent of CityU students in the field of digital economy innovation and entrepreneurship.

The gold-award project, “The Buried Wonder Nights”, focuses on the revitalization of cultural heritage and immersive experience innovation in the context of the digital economy. By integrating AR/VR technologies, it tells the historical stories of Luoyang city and the root of Chinese culture from a Macao perspective, designing a heritage-tourism solution that is both interactive and educational. The project received high praise from the judging panel.

The competition was jointly organized by China Chamber of International Commerce, the Department of Decision Analytics and Operations at City University of Hong Kong, and the International Association of Business Management Simulation, aiming to promote the innovative Entrepreneurship exchanges of digital economy and explore the technological innovation project with commercial potential in Greater China. The competition included three stages: the preliminary contest, the semi-finals and the final. The preliminary contest required the submission of a project proposal and business model analysis; the semi-finals required a product demonstration video and market research report; and the final round was conducted through live roadshows and defense, with comprehensive scoring by an expert panel comprising judges from both universities and industry. The competition attracted over 100 teams from nearly 30 higher education institutions across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao.
