CityU Students Participate in 2018 the First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area University Students Arts Festival
2018 the First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area University Students Arts Festival, organized by Xinghai Conservatory of Music and South China Normal University, was held from May 12 to 13. The Student Affairs Office organized 13 students from different colleges such as Faculty of International Tourism and Management, Faculty of Business, School of Law, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and pre-university programs. They were keen on violin, clarinet, folk dance, guzheng, piano, flute and vocal music.
On the morning of the event, students first went to visit Guangdong Museum to experience the culture of Lingnan in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as the world's fourth largest bay area featuring developed economy and dense population, and to learn about the cultural ties among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao as an important part of Chinese culture. The Greater Bay Area is a strong political and economic region bound by culture.
In the afternoon, students took part in master classes for different arts at Xinghai Conservatory of Music. In the class of music masters, students conducted in-depth exchanges with teachers on issues related to music and musical instruments. Students who loved violins also seized the opportunity to give a live performance for teachers and students to make comments. In addition, learning "Wing Chun Bart Cham Dao", "Wing Chun Long Pole" and "Cup Flower Dance" in the dance class allowed students to have a new understanding of dance. Through these arts classes, students experienced the unique Lingnan style and deeply felt teachers' innovation in the class and protection of intangible cultural heritage.
On the evening of that day, the opening ceremony and concert of 2018 the First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area University Students Arts Festival was held in the concert hall of Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Each performance was absolutely wonderful and impressive, allowing students to enjoy the beauty of music quietly and feel the appeal of music.
On the following day, colleges and universities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area gathered together to enjoy the wonderful music carnival performance, drawing a perfect end to the event.
This activity has strengthened the art exchange between CityU and the universities in Mainland China and Hong Kong, and helped to introduce more art talents from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The participating students benefited greatly and were encouraged to pursue art continuously. Through the two-day and one-night exchange activities, students had more expectations for future art exchanges.
