In order to enrich the study life of graduate students in the short semester, help students improve their academic attainment, broaden their research horizons, and increase their knowledge, the "Education BBS", held by the School of Education, invited authoritative experts in the fields of qualitative research methods and teacher education. Professor Chen Xiangming from Peking University and Doctor Wang Fuwei, an associate researcher from the Research Center for Moral Education of Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences delivered wonderful academic lectures to students on January 11 and January 14, respectively. The two lectures attracted a large number of teachers and students to attend and there were no empty seats in the venue. CityU Registrar Sean Li, Associate Dean Wang Zhong of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and some teachers also attended the lectures.
Professor Chen Xiangming delivered a lecture titled "Educational Narrative Inquiry" to the students, which was themed with educational narrative research. Professor Chen Xiangming shared with students the connotation, methods and significance of educational narrative research and analyzed the current situation of education from different perspectives. Centering on "narrative inquiry" and starting from "what", "how" and "why", Professor Chen Xiangming put forward a plan to improve narrative reflexivity through writing and elaborated her opinions from four aspects step by step. Then Professor Chen Xiangming analyzed the connotation of narration, introduced the three methods of narrative inquiry, and shared his systematic summary of the deep implication of narrative research. Professor Chen Xiangming put forward the teaching method of combining text, so that students can more intuitively understand the various forms of "reflexivity" in narrative inquiry, and refine the use of "reflexivity" in narration.

The atmosphere at the interactive session was warm, and Professor Chen Xiangming patiently answered the questions posed by the students one by one, which not only consolidated the new knowledge learned, but also enabled the students to acquire a better understanding of the concepts in pedagogy in continuous thinking. After the lecture, the teachers and students present were longing for more and actively communicated and discussed with Professor Chen Xiangming.
Doctor Wang Fuwei led the students to explore "The Educational Value of Group Cooperative Learning, A Local Study Based on Grounded Theory". During the lecture, Doctor Wang Fuwei demonstrated the application and improvement of the grounded theory path with research examples, which reflected the research essence of "discussing the educational value of group cooperative learning from the perspective of teachers' use". During the lecture, Doctor Wang Fuwei deeply analyzed the grounded theory from the perspectives of "origin and process", "research questions", "research path" and "analysis and discussion", and interacted and discussed with students. Doctor Wang Fuwei said that grounded theory research was one of the main research paths of China’s educational qualitative research. It played a crucial role in promoting the standardization of educational qualitative research, promoting the diversification of educational qualitative research paths and improving the quality of local education research, and made outstanding contributions to the localized education research and practice of China.

Teachers and students of the University were greatly inspired by the two sessions of "Education BBS”. As a means of passing on knowledge and information, education is vital for the development of both the country and individuals. Refining research, exploring the diversity of existence and searching for truth amid changing times are the mutual responsibilities of both educators and students. We hope that more students will participate in this kind of academic seminar so that they can think in the process of pursuing self-enhancement and discover the connection between learning and living. During the coming short semester for postgraduate students, our School of Education is going to organize three Nvivo Software Operation workshops jointly with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on 15 and 17 January to provide students with more learning opportunities to apply theories in practice.
