To popularise the knowledge of network and information security, the Faculty of Data Science (FDS) of the City University of Macau (CityU) held a two-day “Information Security Day” event yesterday (12th) at the Student Tribe in the Taipa campus to raise the awareness of faculty members and students on network security precautions.

A number of booths were set up at the venue, giving out helpful information, such as how backend logs analyse user behaviour, how phishing emails bring Trojan horse traps, and how lawbreakers capture data and analyse passwords. The main lectures and live demonstrations were given by the master’s students, with Assistant Professor Ying Zuobin to provide guidance. They provided detailed answers to the queries raised by the participants, guiding in identifying telecommunications network fraud and avoiding disclosure of personal privacy and sensitive information. In addition, the venue presented exhibition panels with illustrations on various topics such as laws and regulations related to cyber security, data security technologies for personal computers and security protection for personal mobile devices.
