CityU faculty-student research paper on green finance and CSR published on Q1 journal

The research paper titled “Organization Capital and Green Innovation: Evidence from China,” authored by Qu Yuxiao, a Ph.D. student from the Faculty of Finance at City University of Macau (as the first author), and her supervisor Prof. Adrian Cheung Wai Kong, Dean of the Faculty of Finance (as the corresponding author), has been published online in the international SSCI-indexed Q1 journal – Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management.

The research paper investigated the impact of organization capital on green innovation. Using a sample of Chinese A-share listed firms from 2008 to 2020, the study found evidence that organization capital significantly improves green innovation, particularly in firms facing greater environmental regulatory pressure, receiving more media attention, facing less financing constraints, and in non-state-owned firms. The study employed a simultaneous equation model and mediation analysis, and found that organization capital also improved corporate social responsibility through green innovation. The research findings were robust to endogeneity issues, alternative variable measurements, model specifications, and estimation methods. This paper contributed to the understanding of the role of organizational resources in driving green innovation and corporate social responsibility, and could promote corporate environmental practices and green transformation.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management is a leading international journal in the field of economics and management, and is listed in the SSCI as a Q1 journal.
