Under the coaching of Associate Professor Ying Zuobin, a team composed of three students from the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau, Fang Yunsong, Yan Qiyue, and Zhang Yino excelled in the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Macao SAR and won first prize in the university category of the Network Track. The CityU team will represent Macao in the Asia Pacific regional competition next year, competing against top students for the highest honor in the Huawei global competition for Information and communication technologies (ICT). The award ceremony of the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Macao SAR took place at the Exhibition Center of the Macao Science Center.
The Huawei ICT Competition is a global annual ICT (Information and Communication Technology) event organized by Huawei. It provides students with a platform to participate in international competitions and broaden their perspectives. The competition has been held in Macao for three consecutive years and consists of three stages: the Macao Regional Competition, the Asia-Pacific Regional Competition, and the Global Finals. This year’s competition focuses on cutting-edge technology areas such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, 5G communication, and cloud computing. It includes two tracks: Network and Cloud, which challenges the participants’ ICT theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and teamwork from multiple dimensions.
The year’s competition received a tremendous response, attracting nearly 600 students. After months of online training, preliminary selection, and multiple rounds of professional evaluation, a total of 25 teams advanced to the finals. In the end, the CityU team stood out and won the first prize in the Network track.
The Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Macao SAR was co-organized by Huawei (Macao Branch), the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, and the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre. The competition aims to actively involve students in the ICT industry, enhance their practical experiences, hands-on abilities, and innovative mindset. It also seeks to drive the diversification of Macao’s technology industry and nurture a greater number of high-caliber science and technology talents.
