The Service Management Bachelor and Master programs of CityU, scheduled to be launched in September 2014, were significant topics at the forum. Discussions at the forum included diversified aspects of modern service industry development, including manufacture service, life service, knowledge service, and cultural creativity. The comprehensive discussions of accomplished scholars from different fields highly coordinated with the diversified development policies of Macau.
The forum, sponsored by the Macau Foundation and supported by the IACM and the DSEJ, attracted over two hundred participants from the Asia-Pacific region. About sixty papers of the nearly one hundred papers and abstracts submitted, discussing innovation and development of contemporary service industry in Asia-Pacific region, were addressed and presented during the two-day seminar. The forum constructed a cross-Asia-Pacific region platform with visions of international cooperation, which promotes the discussion of contemporary service industry development, broadens the horizons of Macau service industry and responds to its development demands.
Holding this forum in the context of the current complicated and changing global economy, the organizer expects the discussion of latest development trends and technologies of service industry would devote to the diversification and growth pattern transformation of Macau’s service industry. The future features of contemporary service industry development include low energy, high productivity and high added-value, and key demands of the industry are efficient use of resources, stimulation of sustainable economy development, creation of green GDP, and promotion of living standard of people which are also the focus of governments, industries and the academy. It is hoped that the forum would further strengthen the cooperation between Macau and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region and appeal to more scholars and experts so that they might contribute ideas and further efforts for contemporary service industry development in the Asia-Pacific region and diversified industry development of Macau.
