A large teaching and practice activity themed, “Colorful Four Seasons—Glorious Traditions and Brilliant Future,” funded by the Macau Foundation was recently held at the Macau Tower by FITM and SCS City University of Macau to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Handover of Macau to China.
The activity offered an opportunity for students to integrate theory with practice. Through planning and performing the activity, students benefited by learning social and table manners, enhancing their comprehensive abilities in planning, organizing and performing activities, and getting ready for becoming high-quality, application-oriented professionals in the local tourism service industry. The activity won extensive support and welcomed over 500 guests from all circles and leaders, professors, teachers and students. Many special guests were invited including members from the Board and Executive Committee of City University of Macau, representatives from GAES, Macau Adult Education Association, Managers and HR Directors from internship cooperation hotels, rectors and teachers from colleges and schools, and scholars and experts participating in the 5th International Conference on MICE Tourism Education and Industrial Development in the Asia-Pacific Region.
One of FITM of CityU’s unique features is a close integration of theory and practice. The faculty emphasizes students’ practical skills and promotion of social adaptability. The planning and organizing of Teaching & Practice activity helps cultivate comprehensive abilities of students and promotes their future vocational development potentials.
FITM students designed every step of the high-end dinner with the guidance of FITM teachers. The multi-lingual activity was conducted in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. The performances were all planned by students and international students performed special numbers. A dance party was arranged at the end of the dinner.
Seizing this opportunity of celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Handover of Macau to China, the successful hosting of this activity surely brings extensive impact on the teaching innovation of FITM and SCS City University of Macau. It promotes the reputation of the City University of Macau in the Asia-Pacific Region, helps cultivate comprehensive abilities of students, promotes their sense of belonging and passion for studies, and further strengthens the cooperation between City University of Macau and the community.
