A delegation from ESCOLA LUSO-CHINESA TCNICO-PROFISSIONAL (ELCTP) composed of Principal Chen Y.L, Vice- Principal Pan W.L, and Ms. Mei Q.H recently visited the School of Continuing Studies (SCS), City University of Macau. Prof. Aliana Leong, Vice-Rector of City U, and Mr. Gary Kou, Executive Director of the SCS warmly received the delegation. Prof. Leong introduced to the delegation the development of the FITM and SCS, and particularly mentioned the International Hospitality and Tourism Master Program of the FITM earning the UNWTO TedQual certification in 2013.
Principal Chen discussed the programs of ELCTP, including Tourism, Fashion Design, Computer, Electronic Technique, Martial Arts, and Administration and Business Technology. As a vocational middle school, ELCTP finds it challenging to provide internship opportunities for the students. Due to the nature of its set-up, ELCTP students might have lower skills in Chinese, English and Mathematics than students in regular secondary schools, but with the experience acquired from internship, they could develop better practical abilities. Principal Chen noted the complete and systematic internship programs of the FITM and SCS with appreciation. By signing cooperation agreement with renowned enterprises like Sheraton Macau, Venetian, St Regis, Marriott, and Ritz Carlton, the FITM and SCS provide first-rate internship opportunities for the students. The newly developed Professional Development Schemes, which have achieved initial success, are perfect programs for local students. Principal Chen urged the FITM and SCS to support the teaching and internship of ELCTP and jointly cultivate professionals for the MICE industry of Macau.
Mr. Gary Kou introduced the TOEIC, TOEFL, and SAT held by the SCS in recent years. He also described the current status of ELCTP graduates studying in FITM. He heaped praises on those students taking part in the Sheraton Professional Development Scheme for their hard work and excellent performance.
