The City University of Macau (CityU) recently held a seminar on “Green Business and Case Development Strategy” at the Ho Yin Conference Center at its Taipa Campus. The event featured Wang Chongming, a renowned professor from Zhejiang University and president of the Silk-Road Entrepreneurship Education Network (SREEN), as the keynote speaker. Other attendees included Adrian Wai Kong Cheung, dean of the Faculty of Finance; Eva Yueng Wah Khong, associate dean of the Faculty of Finance; José Paulo Afonso Esperança, associate dean of the Faculty of Business; Tian Yihui, associate dean of the Faculty of Business; assistant professor Dong Bowen; Lecturer Stephanie Chiang; and postgraduate student representatives from the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Finance.

Professor Wang systematically explained three major characteristics of green business cases: capability orientation, sustainable responsibility, and industry integration. Applying the Five Forces Management Model (Ecological Force, Cultural Force, Team Force, Innovation Force, and Action Force) as the framework, he discussed how responsible management and sustainable management strategies can facilitate the implementation of green business strategies, the formulation of green business actions, and the promotion of green business transformation. In the case development section, Professor Wang introduced four strategies with comprehensive insights: prioritizing green transformation, advocating green business practices, addressing green business problems, and enhancing green business empowerment.

Professor Wang stated that global business education is proactively responding to the AI-driven and green transformation of the digital era. He emphasized problem solving, strengthening growth mindset, and transitioning to green business models. Additionally, Professor Wang announced that in 2025 the demonstration base jointly established by SREEN and CityU will actively participate in the “Green Business Case Contest” held in various universities and countries. The “Global Green Business Case Contest”, launched this year, will first take place in Nagoya, Japan. Professor Wang elaborated on the themes of green business and case development related to the contest and encouraged students to participate as a team.

In addition, Professor Wang explored various concepts related to management and teamwork, encouraging students to develop visionary perspectives and in-depth understanding of green entrepreneurship. In addressing business challenges, he highlighted the importance of implementing green strategies and the role of ecological benefits and sustainable development capabilities in this process. Professor Wang also analyzed the crucial value of integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into business education and green transformation efforts.
