Pro-Rector Professor IP Kuai Peng
Professor Ip Kuai Peng has been appointed as the Pro-Rector of City University of Macau since August 2018. Previously, Prof. Ip was the Assistant Rector of the City University of Macau, which he was responsible for scientific research and academic development. He was also a member of the Teaching and Academic Committee of the Macau University of Science and Technology, and the Course Coordinator of the Faculty of International Tourism of the Macau University of Science and Technology. He has won the "Outstanding Teaching Award" and has rich experiences in teaching and management of higher education are widely recognized.
Prof. Ip as a young talent in Macao, has a rich educational background. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Economics from Sun Yat-sen University, a master's degree in Management from Peking University, a Master's degree in Public Administration from the National School of Administration and a PHd in Economics from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He also engaged in the postdoctoral study and research in the Postdoctoral Research Station in political science at Wuhan University
Prof. Ip as an academic elite in Macao, has good academic achievements. He has been invited by numerous famous academic institutions such as University of Coimbra, University of Brasilia, National University of Singapore and Oriental Portuguese Society, to engage in research tasks and participant as Post-doctoral and visiting scholars. He was once working as a senior technician of Research and Data Division of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. His current research interests include international relations, Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau. He has published nearly 50 articles on the political, economic and social development of Macao, and has successfully published two academic monographs in well-known domestic press. He has won the Post-doctoral Forum Award of the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China and has relatively high academic influence in Macau.
Prof. Ip has held important positions in relevant departments of the SAR government and has experience in the socio-economic development of Macao. He was a member and an advisory researcher of the Advisory Committee of the Macao SAR Government Policy Research Office. He is one of the main academic leaders who has rich scientific research experiences and achievements in the political system, government operation, medium and long-term development planning, public policy and foreign relations in the Macao SAR. Prof. Ip has also served as a special researcher at the China Institute of Foreign Affairs, a director of the Chinese Academy of Latin American Aesthetics, a visiting researcher at the Institute of Public Affairs and Public Policy of Nanjing University, and the chairman of the Macau International Law and International Relations Institute.
The City University of Macau attaches great importance to scientific research development, it continues to increase research investments, steadily builds up scientific research teams and has made significant achievements in the key research partner bases of the humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. CityU has established numerous characteristic research institutions as to fulfil the use of think tank to serve the economic and social development of Macau and the country. Since Prof. Ip joined the university, it has further promoted the development of the CityU's scientific research field and improved the level of service to Macao society as to enhance the university's comprehensive strength.
