CityU and Hengqin New Area Conducted a Meeting to Advocate Transformation of Science and Technology and Reinforce Regional Cooperation

A delegation led by Rector Shu Guang Zhang, Executive Associate Dean of FOB Eva Khong, Executive Vice Dean of Faculty of Urban Management and Studies Wu Yao and Head of Academic Affairs Office Cai Zhiming recently visited Hengqin New Area. They conducted a meeting with Deputy Part Committee Secretary of Hengqin New Area Li Wei Hui, Head of Party-Masses Work Department Tong Nian Sheng, President of Da Hengqin Technology Co and Chief of Postdoctoral Foundation Deng Lian Bing, Assistant of Chief of Human Resources Office of Hengqin New Area and Regional Party-Masses Work Department Mu Bo Jun, Executive Head of Hengqin New Area High-end Talents Service Centre Jiang Xin and 4 experts on the Thousand Talents Plan Ren Yong Jian, He Hong Chang, Chen Jian Ping and Yin Qi Ying.

In the meeting, both parties achieved a common consensus on the cooperation and discussed their collaboration including research and development, transformation of innovation and enterprise education. They will actively construct the system for ‘One Belt, One Road’ (Luso-Chinese) Alliance and Forum of Transformation of Science and Technology and concentrate on the transformation and promotion of China and Portugal’s accomplishments in the transformation of innovation. With Hengqin as the base of operations and Macau as the nexus, the transformation of technological achievements in Portugal (Europe) will be advocated to the Greater China. The accomplishments of Mainland China, especially the unique achievements of the Thousand Talents Plan, will be promoted to Macau, Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries. Meanwhile, CityU and Hengqin New Area will jointly establish a cross-border State Key Laboratories of Big Data to develop a cross-border Big Data basic platform as well as creating and researching data for cross-border basic facilities. Furthermore, both parties will enhance the construction of the “International Silk Road Enterprise Education Alliance”. Under the international qualification of AMBA, they will collaborate with key colleges and research centres along the 21^st Century Maritime Silk Road on the research and application of enterprise, development of enterprise curriculum and construction of enterprise education base.

In addition, Hengqin New Area presented the certificate for postdoctoral instructor to Rector Zhang for his employment as the postdoctoral instructor at the Hengqin New Area Postdoctoral Foundation.
