On 8 of May, Director Vong Yim Mui of the Social Welfare Bureau visited City University of Macau, with the purpose of meeting and communicating with the social worker students and to understand their views on their studies, work, society and life. Vice Rector Kong Fanqing and Director of the Department of Innovative Social Work Jacky Ho offered their warm welcome to Director Vong.

Our Rector ShuGuang Zhang thanked the Government for supporting our newly created department and our program, which is well received by the public. Director Vong also praised the development and innovation by the Department of Innovative Social Work in their program design to help captivating professional talent to better serve Macau.

The students from the Department of Innovative Social Work participated enthusiastically, exchanged ideas and asked questions about elderly services, domestic violence, and social work systems. Director Vong introduced students to various social policy concepts and shared her own experiences as a student and early career life. She also encouraged students to study hard and build a spirit and mission of caring for the society and helping others to help themselves.

Our Vice Rector Kong also shared about professionalization of social work to ensure the quality provided by social workers.

In the end, the students sang a song that signified the spirit of professional services providers by social workers and also presented a drawing that depicted the social work elements and social sustainability and overall fulfillment.
