CityU Signs the Cooperation Framework Agreement with Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao)

On May 25, the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Framework Agreement between the City University of Macao and the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) (hereinafter referred to as the "China-PSCs Forum") was held at the Taipa Campus. Guests attending the ceremony included Xu Yingzhen, Secretary-General of the China-PSCs Forum, Ding Tian, Deputy Secretary-General, Rodrigo Brum, Deputy Secretary-General, Belarmino Barbosa, Coordinator of the Liaison Office and Representative of Angola, Teresa Mok, Coordinator of the Support Office, Nuno Furtado, Representative of Cape Verde, Malam Camará, Representative of Guinea-Bissau, Francisca Torcida Reino, Representative of Mozambique, Maria João Bonifácio, Representative of Portugal, Gualter Cruz, Representative of São Tomé and Príncipe, Danilo Henriques, Representative of Timor-Leste, Niu Huifeng, Advisor of the Executive Office, and Rector Shu Guang Zhang and Pro-Rector Ip Kuai Peng. Rector Shu Guang Zhang and Secretary General Xu Yingzhen addressed the event one after another.

Rector Shu Guang Zhang said that CityU has always attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with the China-PSCs Forum and has successfully cooperated with the China-PSCs Forum in organizing advanced training programs such as "Programme on Tax and Fiscal Policies for Portuguese-speaking Countries", "Workshop on Capacity Production Cooperation for Portuguese-speaking Countries" and "Workshop on Finance Cooperation for Portuguese-speaking Countries". The signing of the Cooperation Framework Agreement this time not only consolidates the past achievements of cooperation, but also looks to the future, hoping for broader and deeper cooperation in personnel training, academic research and professional training, and jointly promotes Macao's socio-economic development.

In his speech, Secretary-General Xu Yingzhen said that this year marked the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the China-PSCs Forum, which has achieved important results in government, economic, trade and cultural exchanges and cooperation in the past 15 years. The signing of the Cooperation Framework Agreement with the City University of Macao is in line with the spirit of the 5th Ministerial Conference of the China-PSCs Forum, putting the Chinese-Portuguese bilingual talents training into practice and promoting exchanges between the two sides in the fields of human resources, professional training and academic research. The signing of this contract is an opportunity to further deepen the cooperation with CityU and to expect the City University of Macao to play an increasingly important role in the cultural and educational exchanges between China and Portugal.

Subsequently, Rector Shu Guang Zhang and Secretary General Xu Yingzhen signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement on behalf of City University of Macao and the China-PSCs Forum, respectively, under the witness of the participants. The two sides jointly organized a series of lectures on "Analysis of the Development of Portuguese-speaking Countries", and invited students who study Portuguese-speaking countries at CityU to participate in relevant activities of the China-PSCs Forum to deepen cooperation in the field of human resources development under the China-PSCs Forum program.

After the ceremony, representatives from various countries of the China-PSCs Forum gave a speech on the theme "Overview of Portuguese-speaking Countries". After listening carefully to the speech, the participating students asked questions on various topics from representatives of various countries. After the events, all students said that the lecture gave them a better understanding of the history, people and folk customs of various Portuguese-speaking countries.
