Rector Jun Liu introduced to students the profound history of the University, its motto “Virtue · Knowledge · Practice”, as well as its vision and mission. In his speech, he also put forward seven expectations to the students: first, take pride in being part of CityU Macau; second, learn how to learn; third, stay focused while expanding their horizon; fourth, venture out of their comfort zone and make friends; fifth, learn another language; sixth, enjoy local food and appreciate local culture in Macao; and seventh, dare to dream about their future.

Meanwhile, Rector Liu invited the freshmen to wear the school badge on their chests and congratulated them on becoming students of CityU Macau in a simple but meaningful ceremony. The badge will be a mark of the hard work in their youth and will also spur them to move forward.
