A delegation led by Ms Wang Caihuang, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Promotion Center of Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area, visited the City University of Macau (CityU Macau) today (10). Prof Zhou Wanlei, Vice-Rector of CityU Macau, welcomed the group. The two sides conducted exchanges on the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and discussed the future cooperation between CityU Macau and the Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area.
During the meeting, Vice-Rector Zhou introduced the University's academic characteristics and prospects of the University. Deputy Director Wang gave an overview of the Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area and introduced its development plans and industrial development.
Deputy Director Wang said that the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has brought opportunities for the cooperation and development between Dongguan and Macao. “The Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area hopes to introduce talents and projects from Hong Kong and Macao to create a unique cooperation platform in the Great Bay Area”.
The two sides conducted in-depth discussions to implement joint projects at the meeting and reached preliminary cooperation intentions. CityU and the Committee agreed to build a joint laboratory to provide a platform for industry-academia collaboration and help students engage in internship, entrepreneurship and employment in Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area. By doing so, generating a better endeavour to serve the development of the Binhaiwan district and the city cluster.
The Binhaiwan Bay Area is located in the southern Chinese city of Dongguan. Being in the heart of the Pearl River Delta economic zone of south China, the Dongguan Binhaiwan Bay Area is envisaged as a key transport node for the integration of the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. CityU Macau and the Committee established the cooperation tie in 2018.
