CityU faculty and students conduct studies on cultural heritage in Zhuhai to promote sustainable development
In response to the national initiative to promote the preservation and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, City University of Macau, in collaboration with Zhuhai City Polytechnic and Zhuhai Tourism and Leisure Culture Research Center, embarked on a study trip to explore the innovative approach of preserving intangible cultural heritages, specifically the Crane Dance and Bamboo Weaving in Zhuhai's Sanzao district. Led by Professor Gao Yuting, coordinator of the master's degree program at the Faculty of International Tourism and Management, the student team had the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the inheritors and ambassadors of these traditional cultural practices, gaining a deeper understanding of their past and current development, and first-hand experience of these cultural traditions. They also discussed ways to promote innovation in these arts in the modern era. This research trip not only allowed the students to gain a deeper understanding of traditional skills, but also formed friendships and strengthened cultural exchange between the two cities. The students also expressed their commitment to promoting and preserving intangible cultural heritages as young people of the new era.
