Upon the invitation of the organizers of Smart Education Limited, some teachers and administrative staff of the SCS participated in the "Propell Teacher Workshop." The instructor of the workshop, Annabelle Simpson,  is the Director of ETS Global Institute, and the Director of the Expansion Department in Latin American region. Prof. Simpson is a seasoned instructor with the "Propell Teacher Workshop" for many years, especially in English teaching and studies. Employing the contents of listening, speaking, reading and writing of "TOEFL iBT test," the "Propell Teacher Workshop" developed a series of teaching strategies and comprehensive skills for the participants to cope with the teachings. The training will enable the candidates to make better preparation for the TOEFL iBT test, and is enlightening for general English teaching. "Propell Teacher Workshop" offered through the U.S. Educational Testing Service (ETS) TOEFL iBT test, is led by strictly trained instructors, sharing its effective teaching techniques and the latest teaching tools with the participants for enhancing the teaching quality of local English teachers.

After the workshop, ETS issued certificates to qualified participants. There were six teachers and administrative staff who obtained their TOEFL teaching qualification. There are more than two hundred million people around the world who take the TOEFL test each year, among them about two or three thousand people are from Macau. In response to the increasing number of candidates for the TOEFL test, the ETS added test rooms at the City U, accommodating sixty candidates each time for the convenience of candidates. The seats were full less than a week after the release of the application. The School believes that the establishment of the examination center will further enhance the internationalization process of City U and expects that the examination quota will be increased under the circumstances of HR. Meanwhile, other international certification exams are expected to be supported to make Macau the exam center for the Pearl River Delta region.

Since the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) of City U became a TOEFL test center in September this year, the School is committed to providing high quality services not only to local students but also to students from neighboring cities.
