2013 Advanced Training Program for Deans of School of Continuing Studies in China Hosted by the SCS of City U

One part of the series of the 8th Adult Education & Social Development International Conference, the 2013 Advanced Training Program for Deans of School of Continuing Studies in China, was held from November 30 to December 5 at Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau (December 3 to 5). The training program promotes researches and practice of continuing education to effectively serve the building of a lifelong learning society, and strengthen the exchanges and cooperation among Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. The participants were Deans of Schools of Continuing Studies in China, especially new deans and those from the universities of the western region.  The program is about comprehensive reform and development studies of continuing education, as well as the philosophy and experience sharing of related development in Hong Kong and Macau.

Keynote speakers included: Deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy Committee for Lifelong Education Research, Prof. Yang S. Y., Director Emeritus of HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, Prof. Young, Enoch C.M., Dean of School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Chan P.O, and the Vice Rector of City U and the Dean of the SCS, Prof. Aliana Leong.

The Closing and Awarding Ceremony was held at the Blue Palace Ballroom of Landmark Hotel on December 5, 2013. More than 60 Deans and leaders of Schools of Continuing Studies from 40 universities, such as Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Lanzhou University, and Chongqing University,  completed the 43-hour advanced training program in six days.Participants received certificates issued by the Director of GAES, Mr. Sou C. F.; Director Emeritus of HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, Prof. Young, Enoch C.M.; Chairman of Continuing Education Branch of China Association of Higher Education, Prof. Yan J. C., and the Vice Rector of the City University of Macau, Prof. Aliana Leong. The training program was hosted by the Continuing Education Branch of China Association of Higher Education, undertaken by the SCS of City U, Research Institute of Tsinghua University, and the HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, sponsored by the GAES and IACM.
