【CityU High End Academic Seminar】Prof Wang Weiguang Spoke on “Covid-19 Pandemic and International Situation”
Today (28), invited by the City University of Macau, Prof Wang Weiguang, Member of the National Committee and member of the Standing Committee, Chairman of the Committee of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the 13th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a famous Marxism research expert, spoke at the high end academic seminar. Chairman Chan Meng Kam and Vice Chairman Yen Zexian of CityU Council, Zhang Bo, Vice President of the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Rector Jun Liu of CityU attended the seminar.
Prof Wang Weiguang spoke on “Covid-19 Pandemic and International Situation” and shared with CityU teachers and students his views on the current situation at home and abroad and the impact of the pandemic on the current situations under the epidemic outbreak and the vastly changed international picture. Prof Wang interacted friendly with the students and patiently answered the questions raised by the teachers and students. The atmosphere was lively and the teachers and students were keen to participate.
Rector Liu thanked Prof Wang for caring about CityU and for his support of the 40th Anniversary of CityU. Professor Wang's seminar broadened students’ horizons and enriched their learning experience.
Prof Wang Weiguang has been head of the China Local Records Steering Group, Vice President of the Central Party School, President, Party Secretary and President of the Presidium of the Academic Division of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Dean of the Research Institute for 21st-Century Marxism, Nankai University and the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is also the President of the China Dialectical Materialism Research Association, member and Chief Expert of the Marxism Research Institute and Development Advisory Committee. Prof Wang is an academic leader of the top level study of Marxist theory and philosophy and his major research areas are Marxist philosophy and Sinicization of Marxism, Xi Jinping's thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and major theories and practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He has compiled more than 50 academic works, with the most notable ones being “The History of Socialism” (社會主義通史), “New General Philosophy” (新大眾哲學), “Theories of Social Conflicts” (社會矛盾論), “On Interests” (利益論), “Basic Issues of Marxism” (馬克思主義基本問題), and published over 600 papers on national newspaper. He has been awarded the title of “Chinese Doctorate Holder with Outstanding Contribution” by the State Council and enjoys special government allowance.
