【Promote Transformation of Creativity】A Success for Teachers and Students of the Faculty of Innovation and Design Participating in the Zijing Award Design Exhibition
Teachers and students of the Faculty of Innovation and Design of the City University of Macau participated in the Zijin Award: The Second College Student Design Exhibition (Nanjing) China held in Nanjing. Their works attracted widespread attention and won the Excellence Award of the Best Exhibit Award. A number of investors showed interest in having discussion on cooperation. The participation in this exhibition has not only enhanced exchanges with design colleges in the Mainland but has also promoted creative transformation of CityU and given its programs stronger academic influence.
The Exhibition was guided by the China Association of Higher Education, hosted by the Publicity Department of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the CPC, Education Department of Jiangsu, Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and organized by Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation. With “Creativity, Youth Shines” as its theme, the exhibition was held at the Nanjing International Exhibition Center, showcasing more than 30,000 exhibits from 150 universities and attracting 50,000 visitors. It was the most influential annual creativity event for college students in the country and also a new platform that integrated pioneering fashion, creative display, communication and interaction and work incubation!
Teachers and students from CityU brought 23 sets of design works to the exhibition, including 12 sets for the architecture and landscape category, six sets for the product design category and five sets for the jewelry and ornament category. After an anonymous review by more than 20 experts from across the country, the work “Intelligent Fermentation Machine”, which designer and instructor were Winny Wu and Yan Xiaoyi respectively, won the Excellence Award of the Best Exhibit Award
Students also had unexpected gains at the exhibition venue. The design works of CityU students received wide attention. Shen Yinong's “CHAOS Series Narrative Jewelry Design” and Hong Siyao's “Design for the Epidemic-Derivative Series of Jewelry Design” received inquiries about prices from a number of investors and discussions on the intention of cooperation had begun. That had greatly encouraged students and motivated them to have even higher enthusiasm for design creation and was a positive response of the market to CityU’s arts and design programs
Participation in this Exhibition has not only provided students with a broader platform for displaying their works but has also broadened their horizons, enhanced exchanges between CityU and Mainland design institutions, promoted the transformation of design and creativity, given CityU’s Bachelor’s Programs in Arts and Design greater social influence and enabled different sectors to understand the City University of Macao from diversified perspectives.
