Prof. Liu Baocun, Head of the Institute of International and Comparative Education, Beijing Normal University, recently visited the Faculty of Education (FED), City University of Macau, and offered a course for FED doctoral students, Globalization and Comparative Education Research. Prof. Liu presented the course from four axis: the status and trends of worldwide higher education reform, worldwide basic education reform, China’s higher education reform, and that of China’s basic education reform. Following this chart, Prof. Liu structurally elaborated the current situation and reform direction of higher and basic education in the global context. In this course, Prof. Liu not only introduced the basic knowledge of education movement and the relevant established laws in England, US, France and Japan. He also deeply analyzed how the education internationalization influences and impacts China’s higher and basic education. On the basis of rich comparative education research experiences, Prof. Liu pointed out the feasible reform approaches to higher and basic education reform in Mainland China. Prof. Liu Baocun has visited City U three times. In the close interaction with the year-one FED doctoral students, Prof. Liu shared his extensive research experience in comparative education, and encouraged doctoral students to build an international research background for their theses. Based on the three visiting trips to City U, Prof. Liu witnessed the stable progress and changes of FED. He positively commended the Faculty in inviting respected scholars to offer courses for graduate and doctoral students. He also put forward sincere expectations to doctoral students’ theses and their future academic work. As the head of the key MOE humanity and social science research base, Prof. Liu takes charge of several key national research projects. He has also been invited as keynote speaker to many international conferences, and has published a series of academic books and journal articles. Prof. Liu Baocun is the Distinguished Professor Cheung Kong Scholar of 2015. |
