CityU celebrates 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to motherland, emphasizing unity and anticipation for new era

As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, all sectors have united to actively participate in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with the firm support of the nation and the innovative leadership of the Macao SAR Government. This encompasses the implementation of the “1+4” strategy for adequate economic diversification, which has led to the establishment of thriving initiatives that effectively demonstrate the successful application of Macao’s unique “one country, two systems” policy.

Since 2011, the Macao SAR Government has continuously supported and advanced educational development in Macao in accordance with the policies of “Macao Thrives on Education” and “Building Macao through Talent Training”. Higher education in Macao has made significant strides, with ongoing improvements in the quality and system of education. With productive accomplishments and invaluable experience, Macao’s higher education is shining on the international stage.

Benefiting from the nation’s generosity, the Macao SAR Government’s care, and support from various sectors, CityU has made steady progress with determination. The educational philosophy of “Macao Characteristics, China’s Soul, Global Vision” guides its dedication to the cultivation of high-quality, versatile professionals who are patriotic and fit the needs of Macao, the Greater Bay Area, and the nation. CityU prioritizes patriotic education in student growth, promoting a shared future with our motherland and growing with the Macao SAR and society. As we continue to write brilliant chapters on this new journey, we will instill a deep sense of national pride, uphold the fine tradition of love for the country and love for Macao, and reinforce cultural self-confidence.

Flag raising ceremony in celebration of the Macao SAR Establishment Day, with teachers and students presenting heartfelt blessings for Macao

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland. CityU held a flag raising ceremony this morning at T-Platform Garden, Tai Fung Building, Taipa Campus, to express the affection and blessings of teachers and students for the motherland and Macao. Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng and Pro-Rector Wicky So Kam Hung, along with college leaders, department heads, and faculty and student representatives attended the event. The Student National Flag Team of CityU escorted the national, regional, and university flags to the flag raising platform. Amidst the rousing anthem, the three flags waved proudly in the breeze. The faculty staff and students remained silent and gazed with deep affection as the national and regional flags were slowly raised, with the vibrant Chinese red and Macao green shining brightly under the clear sky, reflecting infinite respect and blessings for the Macao SAR Establishment Day.

CityU celebrating two anniversaries, showcasing talents, and sending sincere wishes through songs

In this year of double celebrations, CityU, together with twelve other tertiary institutions, including the China Conservatory of Music, Minzu University of China, Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Dance Academy, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Fujian Normal University, Xiamen University, Huaqiao University, Shenzhen University, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Guangxi Arts University, and University of Macau, jointly hosted the “Glorious Macao, Celebrating the Prosperous Era” arts gala. This event aims to facilitate cultural interchange and foster the deep fusion of various cultures, to let the passionate affection for the motherland and Macao resonate through Chinese melodies, to present stories of China, and to express deep cultural sentiments and national pride through Macao’s unique designation as the “Cultural City of East Asia”.

In September this year, CityU staged two commemorative songs, “Macao, a Beautiful Place” and “Build Your Dreams in Macao”, to demonstrate heartfelt respect for the motherland and Macao. These songs convey gratitude and blessings for the motherland and Macao through artistic expression, and showcase the CityU community’s patriotism and love for Macao, as well as their vision for a better future. Additionally, CityU organized “In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the Macao SAR Grand Variety Show” and the “Dual Celebratory Gala”, featuring recitations, dramas, and music that highlight the CityU community’s enthusiasm and talents.
