CityU Holds the First Summit of the Knowledge Innovation & Transfer Network between China and the B&R Portuguese-speaking and Latin-American Countries

On November 6, the opening ceremony of the First Summit of the Knowledge Innovation & Transfer Network between China and the B&R Portuguese-speaking and Latin-American Countries was successfully launched at the City University of Macau (CityU). Present at the opening ceremony were Xue Xiaofeng, Vice Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Zheng Xin You, Director of the Department of Public Diplomacy and Information of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in Macao SAR, Consul-General Paulo Cunha Alves of the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, Consul-General Rafael Custódio Marques of the Consulate-General of Mozambique in Macau, President Wu Zhiliang of the Administrative Committee of Macao Foundation, Chang Kun Hong, Vice Director of the Tertiary Education Services Office, President Ma Chi Ngai of the Administrative Committee of Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, Deputy Secretary-General Casimiro de Jesus Pinto of the Permanent Secretariat of the China-PSCs Forum, Van Mei Lin, Deputy Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, Gou Renmin, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Prof. Ana Costas Freitas, Rector of University of Évora, Deputy Secretary Li Weihui of Hengqin New Area, Deputy Director Deng Wei of the Zhuhai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, Chairman of Council Chan Meng Kam, Vice Chairman Yan Zexian and Rector Shu Guang Zhang of Council of City University of Macau, and other leaders and guests.

Prof. Ana Costas Freitas and Deputy Secretary Li Weihui extended their congratulations to the opening of this summit in their speeches, expecting that the Network can fully grasp the platform of the Knowledge Innovation & Transfer Network between China and the B&R Portuguese-speaking and Latin-American Countries, push forward the promotion and transfer of technological achievements and success mode, and actively cooperate with the “Belt and Road" Initiative and the development strategy of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. On behalf of CityU, Rector Shu Guang Zhang expressed his respect and gratitude to all sectors of society for their support and contribution to the establishment and development of the Network in his speech. It was hoped that the Network would join hands to establish an all-round R&D cooperation mechanism, carry out cross-border project R&D cooperation, build a technology incubation base, create a cross-border knowledge transfer platform, promote economic and cultural exchanges, and strengthen innovation education.

Afterwards, under the witness of the officiating guests, the signing ceremony of the Network was held and Rector Shu Guang Zhang announced that the Knowledge Innovation & Transfer Network between China and the B&R Portuguese-speaking and Latin-American Countries was officially established. The summit will last four days, and on the opening day, there were "Keynote Speeches", "Introduction to the Advantages of Innovation and Transfer of Industrial Parks in Mainland China" and "Exhibition of Technology Innovation and Cultural Innovation R&D Projects". In the following days, arrangements will be made for representatives of foreign members of the Network to conduct extended field studies on high-tech parks and new economic zones in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
