The Graduate School and the Research Centre for Macau Social and Economic Development of the City University of Macau (CityU), in collaboration with the Hengqin Institute of Innovation and Development, hosted a think tank dialogue to discuss the collaboration between Macao and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (Cooperation Zone) and explore new paths for Macao’s economic diversification. Experts from both places participated, highlighting the importance of leveraging the Cooperation Zone as a platform for Macao’s future development.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration, promoting economic integration, attracting high-quality industries and talents, and improving infrastructure and mobility. The scholars also emphasized the need to enhance social welfare policies and the connectivity of legal services and related systems in both places. They also emphasized the need to leverage Macao’ role as a bridge between China, the Portuguese-speaking countries, and the world, fostering economic diversification and international cooperation. The dialogue highlighted the significance of the Cooperation Zone in supporting Macao’s “1+4” economic diversification strategy and the successful implementation of the “one country, two systems” policy.
