The signing ceremony of the memorandums of understanding between the Macau Hotel Association (MHA) and Macao's higher education institutions was held on the main stage of the 10th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE).
According to Ms. Jocelyn Wong, Chair of the Macau Hotel Association, her association would push forward cooperation with tertiary institutions to serve the hospitality and tourism industry through industry-academia collaboration with more professionals. Executive Dean Li Xi of the Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM) attended the signing ceremony and led a student representative Chen Jingjing of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, to share her learning experience at CityU.
In line with its mission of “promoting innovative teaching and scientific research, cultivating high-quality tourism talents, and fostering social harmony and prosperity”, FITM strives to develop into an influential institution in Macao and the Asia Pacific region that complies international standards with distinctive features and profound engagement in industry-academia collaboration. Its Hospitality and Tourism Management discipline has been listed in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022 among the top 20% of universities worldwide. In addition, FITM has taken the lead in offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programmes in Macao that are accredited by the TedQual Certification by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) at all degree levels.
FITM aims to cultivate multi-faceted professionals. To this end, it prioritises quality education and provides short-term and long-term internship programmes each year to help students gain insights into the industry.
Under the partnership with MHA, CityU will broaden its platform for industry-academia collaboration to expand its hotel management and tourism networks and offer diverse practicum in a multicultural context.
