On June 13, Open Institute of CityU was granted as the only International Accountants Examination Center in Macau by Association of International Accountants (AIA). Professor Shu Guang Zhang, the Rector of CityU, received Certification of AIA Exams as Macau Examination Venue Provider from Mr. Stephen Chan, Vice President of Association of International Accountants Hong Kong Branch. The recognized AIA Examination Center of CityU will enhance the foundation laid for the local market of International Accountants. CityU-OI offers a variety of short courses, professional certificate courses, corporate training courses, and so on, providing a variety of customised services for students and enterprises to meet the needs of the society for "lifelong continuing education", as the aim of OI-CityU is to develop open education in Macau. Association of International Accountants (AIA) was founded in the UK in 1928, and recognised by the UK Government as a Recognised Qualifying Body (RQB) for statutory auditors. As one of the highest standards of the accountant qualification examination, the Level 7 Diploma in Professional Accountancy is considered as the same level of Master Degree. The AIA Professional Qualification can be registered in the EU to become legally recognized auditors and accountants. AIA international accounting qualifications are widely recognised in over 30 countries worldwide, and it is currently one of the highest certification that professional accountants groups can obtain. Mr. Chan Chon Pat, Secretary General of the University Council; Dr. Gavin Chau, Executive Associate Dean of Open Institute; Mr. Josiah Pang, Asia Pacific Regional Director of AIA; and Mr. Danny Ng, Senior Member of AIA, also attended the conferment ceremony.
