CityU orientation day highlights

The City University of Macau (CityU) 2026 Orientation kicked off today, with welcoming activities running over two consecutive days. 22 August is dedicated to undergraduate freshmen, while 23 August will welcome new postgraduate students. These aspiring new members of the CityU community brought a fresh wave of energy to campus.

 

The campus is brimming with vitality, as new students stepping through the gates with anticipation and enthusiasm. They can be seen in every corner of the University, infusing the campus with renewed energy and a lively spirit.

 

To ensure that the orientation process was well-organized and welcoming, all faculties and administrative units made preparations and coordination. Faculty and staff, together with student volunteers, were full of enthusiasm and remained on the front lines throughout the orientation, providing new students with comprehensive one-stop services including consultations, location guiding, and Q&A. This ensured that every new student’s journey to university was smooth and that they could genuinely experience CityU community.

The orientation was orderly and vibrant. Each faculty had prepared a range of thoughtful and creative welcome activities to greet every new student. These initiatives helped students quickly blend into the campus environment, build connections, and enjoy their diverse university life.

 

At the same time, the University put together various resources and brought in quality service providers to campus, offering one-stop services including banking, telecommunications, and insurance. This allowed new students to complete all necessary enrolment procedures efficiently without the need for multiple trips, enhancing their overall onboarding experience.

Undergraduate Chen Xinyi

初至城大，我的第一感受便是親切又驚喜。親切的是，我一進校園就感覺“重慶人的靈魂覺醒了”——因為這裡和我的家鄉山城一樣，到處都要爬坡上坎。驚喜的是，雖然校園不算大，但真正走進來才發現，真的是“麻雀雖小，五臟俱全”。走在路上，耳邊隨時能聽到粵語、普通話、英語和葡語交織在一起，那種國際化的氛圍和多元文化共存的包容感，是我之前從未體驗過的。城大既有山城般溫暖的煙火氣息，又蘊藏廣闊的國際視野，讓我對校園生活滿懷憧憬。踏入校園，我便收穫滿滿暖意。尚未找尋到宿舍，熱情的學長學姐便主動上前幫忙提拿行李、引路講解，一顆忐忑的心隨即安定下來。入住後，校長與校領導親臨宿舍探訪新生，原本以為會是正式拘謹的交流，他們卻親切随和，閒聊關心我們的適應情況與生活需求。當我提及自己來自重慶，副校長還用四川話與我問好。領導與老師真誠的關懷，讓我深深感受到滿滿的歸屬感，更加期待即將展開的大學時光。

Undergraduate Liu Ziyun

當初報考城大，便是被澳門豐富多元的文化氛圍所吸引。在新生接待的過程中，我發現身邊的同學來自五湖四海，不僅有內地的同學，還有很多澳門本地、中國台灣以及世界各地的學子，這種多元交融的校園環境和文化氛圍完全符合我的預期。在入學報到和迎新的過程中，老師都非常友善，我作為北方學生基本聽不懂粵語，老師們在溝通時都會主動詢問我們是否聽得懂粵語，如果聽不懂，便會主動用普通話和我們一對一交流。老師們耐心友善的態度，讓我更快融入校園環境，適應全新的校園生活。未來，我希望在多元的校園環境中體驗不同的文化，在學習語言、感受多元文化的過程中，培養包容、博愛的心態，學會接納不同國家和地區的文化，更好地應對人生路上的學習、實踐與生活。

I come from Argentina, and this is my first time studying at City University of Macau. I am really excited. Today is my‑first day seeing the campus full of people. Everyone here is extremely helpful. Whenever you get lost, you can simply ask for directions. Overall, I believe the campus provides a very pleasant environment.My experience with school services and support from teachers today has been wonderful. I am impressed that people on campus are always ready to lend a hand. When they notice you are confused or lost, they will communicate with you in English, Cantonese or Mandarin. Many staff members can switch between different languages to offer assistance.As for my goals during my studies here, I hope to make new friends, learn deeply about local culture and achieve academic growth. I consider City University of Macau an excellent institution, and I am looking forward to having a rewarding and wonderful time on campus.

城大校園整潔現代，既有濃厚的學術氛圍，又充滿人文關懷。報到和迎新過程中，清晰的註冊流程，老師和學長學姐們耐心細緻的解答，每一個環節都能體現學校對新生的重視。特別是老師們主動詢問我們是否有困難、是否需要幫助，也讓初來異地的我充滿安心與歸屬感。未來，我希望在城大能夠扎實學好專業知識，同時積極參與各類活動，鍛煉自己的綜合能力。也期待在這裡結識良師益友，拓寬視野，成為一個更有責任感、更具國際視野的人。

校園依山傍海，可以俯瞰澳門和海灣的景色。感覺在這裡上學可以隨時隨地欣賞到好風景。這裡氛圍包容多元，既有濃郁的學術氣息，環境又舒適放鬆，十分適合潛心學習、不斷成長。澳門是一座國際化的城市，我希望能多參與校園活動，多和不同背景的同學交流，鍛鍊自己獨立思考、溝通協作的能力，跳出原本固有的認知，逐漸找到自己未來清晰的發展方向。

入學這兩天，學校的工作人員以及學長學姐都非常熱心。對於我們剛入學、不熟悉校園環境的新生，他們提供了非常細緻、全面的指引和幫助，讓我能够快速了解校園，順利融入城大這個大家庭，讓我感受到了滿滿的溫暖。我是計算機專業的學生，希望在未來本科四年裡打好專業基礎，緊跟當下AI時代的發展趨勢，把在校學到的知識真正運用起來，嘗試解决現實中的問題。同時，我也希望在這四年的學習和成長中，慢慢培養自己發現問題、思考問題的能力，不斷提升自我，未來能夠憑藉自身所學，為社會發展貢獻一份力量。

校園給我的第一印象便是小而美的精緻感。白綠色調的建築充滿朝氣活力，儘管地處繁華的澳門鬧市，踏入校園內便能尋得一份安寧。想到上完課能在走廊上眺望海景，就覺得大學生活很值得期待。學業層面上，我期望藉助城大優質的師資與國際化課程，搭建起系統的商業分析知識體系，持續提升英語水平，為日後升學與實習打下扎實根基。在個人成長方面，我計劃積極參與小組項目與社團活動，磨煉溝通協調與組織能力。期盼四年之後，不僅收獲一份具備含金量的文憑，更能成長為一名擁有獨立思辨能力與國際視野的青年。

Master's student RAVIN MAHARAJ

I really enjoy the environment at City University of Macau. It is a vibrant campus with a warm‑friendly culture. I have been studying here for two years, and I have gained a deep understanding of the campus, its teachers and academic staff.The Admissions and Registry Office is highly efficient, and its staff are always ready to offer help. Whenever students have enquiries or encounter difficulties, they can receive timely support. My fellow students are also very friendly. However, I notice that many local students may feel a little nervous when interacting with peers from different cultural backgrounds. In my opinion, this presents a great opportunity for the university to organise more cross‑cultural activities in the future, such as cultural festivals, concerts and food‑sharing events, to help students break down cultural barriers. Overall, this is a wonderful campus environment, and I am looking forward to returning.Regarding university surveys and support from teachers, I have had a positive experience. The school surveys are published on the university network and Chong Class, which is very convenient for students. These surveys provide us with a valuable channel to share feedback. I always try my best to take part in every survey, so that we can offer constructive suggestions to help the university improve.As for my learning goals and expectations for my studies here, I have set clear objectives. Since I am a returning student, I have identified my strengths and weaknesses, and designed a personal study plan to improve my weaker areas. In particular, I hope to strengthen my abilities in research methodology and data‑analysis, so as to boost my academic performance and develop stronger scholarly skills.

Master's student SILVINO VAZ SACRAMENTO PINHO

I believe the environment at City University of Macau is excellent. There are many well‑designed spaces for students, including comfortable study areas in the library and great support for international students.The campus also boasts a rich multicultural atmosphere. It is a wonderful place to meet people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Thanks to the university’s partnerships with Portuguese‑speaking countries, students have more opportunities for cross‑cultural interaction. This allows us to broaden our horizons and learn about different cultures, which I find very valuable.My experience with school services and support from teachers has been fantastic. Last year when I was arranging my dormitory, university staff escorted me to my new accommodation. They waited for me at Amahall Square, and I felt very warmly welcomed. I really appreciate the helpful attitude of all staff members. Whenever I encounter difficulties, I can turn to the relevant departments on campus, and they are always ready to offer plenty of assistance.I am also deeply impressed by my professors. They always go out of their way to support students. I am the only international student in my class. Although my programme is delivered in English, my professors teach bilingually, using both English and Mandarin. This ensures that classmates who are less confident in English can fully follow the lessons. I think this is a very thoughtful arrangement.

如果以三個詞概括我對城大的初印象，便是包容、自由、開闊。本次迎新報到的體驗遠比我預期順暢。從入校時清晰的指引標識，到各個報到環節志願者一對一的貼心協助，整個流程井然有序，毫無慌亂之感。老師亦耐心帶領介紹校園環境，親切随和，讓我絲毫沒有陌生的距離感。對於博士階段的學習，我懷有兩方面的期待。其一為專業深耕，我將充分借助學校優質的國際化平台與師資力量，扎實開展學術研究，力爭參與相關實踐項目。其二是視野拓展，期待在中西文化交融的校園環境之中，磨煉跨文化溝通與學習能力，不斷拓寬自身眼界。

城大依山傍海，風景優美，校園氛圍開放包容，匯聚了來自全國各地乃至世界各地的學子。我特別感謝創新設計學院的老師們在報到之前便及時、耐心地回覆我們的各項疑難，幫助大家提前熟悉開學相關事宜。同時也感謝研究生學生會的師兄師姐，他們熱心協助、指引明確，在此一並致以誠摯的謝意。身為大灣區本地學子，我十分看好城大背靠大灣區、對接國際的獨特優勢。期盼在未來的博士求學階段，充分依托學校平台接觸多元資源，深耕藝術學相關研究，磨煉科研本領，實現學術水平與個人綜合能力的雙重提升。

博士生 李美艷

在新生報到和迎新活動的全過程中，學校細緻周到的服務、老師們耐心的指導與幫助，讓我真切感受到了省心、舒心與暖心。新生報到的各個環節都做了清晰、周密的安排，事前會推送詳細的新生注册指引，各個學院也設置了專屬指引點位，同時通過郵件多次溫馨提醒迎新日、開學典禮等各項重要活動，流程清晰、安排有序，極大便利了新生入學。與此同時，我也希望借助學校多元交融的校園文化環境，主動與不同國家、不同地區的師生交流學習、互通互鑒，進一步開闊眼界、提升自我。在精進學術的同時，不斷錘煉心性、豐盈自我，實現個人心智與綜合能力的全方位成長，為日後的學術研究與相關工作築牢根基、積蓄力量。

教育學院

博士生 加依達爾·巴岱

初入城大，我最深的感受便是這裡“小而精”的學術氛圍。校園佔地不大，但是設施完備、路線清晰，很容易適應。濃厚的國際化氣息令人印象深刻，身邊同學來自多元文化背景，老師亦具開闊視野，交流之中滿是兼容並蓄的開放精神。澳門中西交融的城市特質，在校園之中得以充分體現。作為一名從計算機跨界轉向教育研究的學生，多元包容的學術環境十分利於激發跨學科思考，也令我對未來的學習充滿期待。展望博士階段，我期盼能夠在教育研究領域收獲扎實成果。我的研究背景橫跨計算機與教育學，長期以“技術＋教育”的視角看待教育議題。未來我希望深度融合兩大學科積累，圍繞AI賦能教育展開相關課題探索，將跨學科優勢轉化為實際的研究成果。同時我也希望善用學校的國際資源，積極參與學術交流，拓寬研究眼界。除學術深耕之外，願與師友結下珍貴的學術情誼，收獲充實的成長歷程，在攻讀學位的同時不斷完善自我。

人文社會科學學院

博士生 梁艷

城大報到與迎新服務的諸多細節令我倍感暖心。我從珠海跨城前來辦理入學，起初並不熟悉各項報到流程與證件手續，心中難免忐忑。學校提前透過郵件推送宿舍、電話卡、銀行等生活與學習資訊，並建立交流微信群。教務老師於群內一對一核對入學材料，耐心講解學籍註冊、宿舍安排、課程相關事宜；面對較為陌生的澳門本地手續，老師更放慢語速逐項解釋。抵校後，清晰的導覽地圖與學長學姐的引導，也保障報到流程順利完成。周全的安排徹底消解了我初來異地的不安。對於博士階段的學習，我亦懷有清晰的規劃。現階段我主攻應用語言學，期望在導師的指導下打磨二語教學方向的學術論文，提升科研寫作與田野調研能力。我也計劃積極參加校內語言學相關學術講座，與各地師生交流研究想法。與此同時，我將把握澳門獨特的區位優勢，累積英語教學的實踐經驗，推動理論知識落地，為日後的學術研究與職業發展筑牢根基。
