CityU students achieve excellent results at national finals of Lanqiao Cup Visual Art Design Competition

The results of the 16^th Lanqiao Cup Visual Art Design Competition in 2025 have recently been announced. Ma Xinyuan and Ruan Junting, students from the Faculty of Innovation and Design (FIAD) at the City University of Macau (CityU), under the guidance of Assistant Professor An Shun, won the second prize at the national finals and the first prize in the provincial contest with their design “EASY SHOOT BAG”; postgraduate student Li Minyi, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Xing Yalong, has been awarded the third prize with her design “Nanyue Fantasy” in the national finals and the first prize in the provincial contest.

The EASY SHOOT BAG, designed by Ma Xinyuan and Ruan Junting, is a camera-specific backpack with modularity, all-weather protection and intelligent interconnection, solving the pain points for professional photography users. It uses a three-stage modular structure to cater to the needs of multiple scenarios. The bag has a three-stage detachable design that enables users to combine capacity modules according to shooting needs, providing brand-new experience for photo-shooting.

The Nanyue Fantasy, designed by Li Minyi, is inspired by the Nanyue King Museum. Through on-site inspection, she designed fonts and logos based on inscribed wooden slips from the collection. Li also created characters inspired by artifacts depicting animals and mythical beasts. The final work integrates these elements into posters and cultural creative products, bridging historical culture with modern aesthetics.

The Lanqiao Cup Visual Art Design Competition has been listed for five consecutive years in the “National Ranking List of Discipline Competitions for Regular Higher Education Institutions” by the China Association of Higher Education. Organized by the Talent Exchange Center of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and undertaken by Lanqiao Cup Education Technology Co., Ltd., the competition is a leading IT event in terms of scale. It has attracted over 1,800 universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the University of Science and Technology of China, with over one million participants.
