The 2026 National University Athletics Group Competition (Sprints/Hurdles/Jumps) took place recently in Fujian. Representing City University of Macau’s track and field team were athletes Qian Haining, Wei Weixuan, and Cheng Kun, accompanied by coach Iong Ka Chon, as they competed in the men’s group A 400m and 200m events. Despite facing strong contenders from universities nationwide, Qian Haining excelled, achieving a personal-best time of 49.19 seconds and claiming third place, a remarkable accomplishment that brings great pride to CityU.

Hosted by the Federation of Chinese University and School Sports, this prestigious national collegiate event attracted over 600 athletes from 109 universities. In the men’s group A 400m, Qian Haining advanced confidently through the preliminaries and delivered a stellar final performance, clocking 49.19 seconds to take third place and set a new personal best. He demonstrated impressive poise and competitive grit.

This participation marked the first appearance of the CityU track and field team at this national event, serving as an important showcase of the University’s athletic competitiveness and the outcomes of its sports education efforts. By competing alongside and exchanging with elite athletes from universities across the country, the team not only secured an award and gained valuable experience but also broadened their horizons and built a solid foundation for future competitions. We look forward to seeing CityU’s athletes channel this experience into motivation, continuing to push their limits and achieve even greater success in the future.
