CityU Welcoming Freshmen in the New Academic Year

The Registration Day for the academic year 2016/2017 took place this week. With the cooperation of all the departments of CityU, the Registration Day was held swimmingly and 1600 freshmen have successfully registered.

Rector Shu Guang Zhang and other university leaders were concerned about the situation of the registration. They were at the campus on 30 August to oversee and instruct the work. Rector Zhang acknowledged the preparation of the teachers for the new academic year and the hard work of the administrative colleagues who renovated the campus during Summer and provide a high-quality learning environment for the students. He also expressed his heartfelt welcome for the freshmen and their parents and hoped that the new students can broaden their horizons and enjoy their time for learning at the fertile and resourceful CityU.

The deans and leaders of the various facilities arrived at the registration in person. With the arrangement of the Student Affairs Office, there were approximately 100 volunteers during the registration period to provide consultancy and offer assistance for freshmen and their parents,

Accompanied by the representatives of the Student Affairs Office, General Affairs Office and Facility Management Office, Rector Zhang visited the dormitory on 31 August to send his regards to the students and see if they can get use to the new environment. He encouraged students to treat CityU as their home and ensured them that the university will offer all necessary assistance and guidance to help students adapt to the rich and fruitful university life. The warm regards of the university leaders make them feel the warmth and passion of the CityU family and raise their anticipation for living and learning at CityU.

On 1 September, the university organised an orientation for new students and their parents to understand the environment and characteristic of CityU. Directors from the various departments shared the main points of the Student Handbook and pointed out the matters to look out for. Moreover, they illustrated the soft and hard facilities and recommended the diverse student activities so to ensure a spectacular beginning in the university for the freshmen.

2016 is a year of growth and sustainability in which CityU carried out system construction. The teaching environment has been expanding and the teaching facilities has been improving. The implementation of smart campus has enhanced teaching and management. The arrival of the freshmen has brought vitality to the campus and overwhelmed the development of the university with hope.
