Embarking on the university journey marks the first time for many freshmen to leave their beloved families. In order to help students cultivate a positive and healthy mindset towards learning and life, City University of Macau (CityU) has established a dedicated professional team that offers one-on-one counseling and consultation services. Since the start of the academic year, CityU has also organized a range of activities, such as lectures, sharing sessions, and workshops, with a focus on promoting students' mental well-being. These initiatives are designed to provide comprehensive support and assistance to students in addressing negative emotions and enhancing their overall mental health.
The Student Affairs Office is responsible for overseeing psychological counseling and consultation services available to all students. These services are provided by qualified social workers and counselors, with the goal of assisting students in navigating challenges related to self-awareness, career planning, emotional distress, academic pressure, life stress, interpersonal relationships, and intimate relationships. To assist newcomers in better blending into campus life, CityU recently organized a lecture on "Psychological Education and On-Campus Counseling Services" and a sharing session titled "Embracing Macao, Experiencing Life." The lecture was delivered by in-house counselors and social workers and highlighted signs that may indicate the need for counseling. The aim was to raise awareness about the importance of psychological education, enabling students to handle and resolve related issues with greater ease. The sharing session featured Pro-Rector Chan Chon Pat, along with administrative staff from the Student Affairs Office, who addressed the concerns of the new students regarding life in the city. They also listened to suggestions provided by the attendees for improving campus life.

By engaging in singing bowl therapy, students were able to relax their nerves and find a balance between their studies and personal lives.

Additionally, a mindfulness training workshop will be offered in mid-November. Students who are interested in participating are encouraged to stay updated on the information released by the Student Affairs Office.
