Fields: Health Science and Applied Psychology
Centre for Global Health Observatory
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) has developed the Centre for Global Health Observatory to promote the development of health and management models, smart health management and healthy living style for seniors. Through different monitoring devices, the observatory helps individuals to achieve their health management goals and raises public awareness of information technology application in health management.
The observatory teamed up with the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office to conduct a health study using primary remote health and management system to monitor chronic disease patients. Over 800 members of the public participated in the project, and their health information was recorded using mobile wrist blood pressure monitors, electrocardiograph devices and thermometers for further analysis. The team provided health guidance and helped individuals and communities set up personal health management models based on their health data and inspired more smart health management projects to be carried out.
In addition, through the establishment of a data platform that integrates research and services, the observatory actively serves the SAR Government’s initiatives in the area of general health and ageing.
