As February, the second month of the new year, brings new life to the campus, City University of Macau (CityU) is excited to kick off the first round of spring recruitment activities for student societies. A variety of student organizations, such as the National Flag Team, Volunteering Team, and Art Troupe, are currently seeking out talented individuals to join their ranks to promote patriotism, volunteerism, and arts within the university.
National Flag Team
The National Flag Team was established in June 2018 and is responsible for flag-raising ceremonies, as well as major flag-raising events for celebrations. Members of the National Flag Team receive professional training from the People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison and the Public Security Police Force, as well as guidance from the Police Tactical Intervention Unit (UTIP). They also have the opportunity to exchange and collaborate with national flag teams from local and mainland Chinese universities. National Flag Team is committed to guarding the national flag and promote patriotism and love for Macao. They are the pioneers in cultivating patriotic sentiments among CityU students. Their confident marching displays a strong sense of national identity and dignity in their role.
Volunteering Team
The Volunteering Team was established in October 2016 with the mission of promoting the values of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and advancement." It brings together a group of enthusiastic students and faculty who are eager to serve society, and currently has over 300 members. The Volunteering Team actively organizes a variety of voluntary work, promotes and participates in regional exchange activities, and provides opportunities for students to attend training courses to enhance their professionalism in serving society through volunteer work. It is committed to the principle of "based on campus, oriented towards society" and encourages CityU students to contribute to society and help those in need, while also strengthening their sense of dedication and social responsibility.
Art Troupe
The Art Troupe, established in April 2023, consists of Folk Music Ensemble, Orchestra, Choir, and Dance Ensemble, all led by highly acclaimed mentors serving as artistic directors. They have shined at many arts activities on the campus such as the orientation night, cultural festival, and cultural performances, and represented the university at cultural events outside campus, such as the Walk for a Million and ceremonies to celebrate Macao’s return to China, and engage in cultural exchanges with young musicians from mainland China and overseas. It is a platform for CityU students to excel their artistic talents and accomplishments.
