~Upon the request of the Macau Government Tourist Office, the FITM City U conducted an academic study titled, A Study on Current Situation and Environment Optimization Strategies of Vocational Careers of Macau Tour Guides. The study aimed to offer comprehensive information about Vocational Careers of Macau Tour guides, to facilitate the perfection of laws and regulations related to Vocational Careers of Macau Tour guides, and provide references for optimization of Vocational Careers of Macau Tour guides and management mechanism of the government. Since September 2013, a thorough survey of Macau tour guides, government departments, travel agencies, group visitors, local citizens and other stakeholders was made to collect the data for the study.
Prof. Aliana Leong, Vice Rector of City University, submitted the project completion report to Ms. Wen Q.H, Director General of Macau Government Tourist Office, and 41 members of Macau Government Tourism Development Committee. The report of Prof. Aliana covered the background, content, process, main conclusions and suggestions of the project. All the Tourism Development Committee members approved the quality of the report. Dr. Jian W.N, one of the Committee members pointed out that, as a scientific research, the study is precise in method and process, with practical significant conclusions and suggestions, and is instructive for the management of Macau tour guides. Mr. Xu W.B, representative of travel agency industry, also noted that the study systematically shows the current situation and issues confronting the vocational careers of Macau tour guides objectively and provides valuable references for the regulated development and environment optimization of Macau tour guides. Other Committee members like Mr. Li B.L and Mr Hu J.G also recognized the main conclusions and suggestions of the project. At the end of the report, Secretary General Wang M.Q of Macau Government Tourism Development Committee expressed his gratitude for the effort of the project team and expects for further support from the FITM City U in future projects.
