Congratulations! CityU student wins the championship in the 6th Macao Universities Diplomatic Speech Contest

The 6th Macao Universities Diplomatic Speech Contest, organized by Macao SAR Government, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR, hosted by Education and Youth Development Bureau and co-organized by Macao Polytechnic University, held its final and award ceremony yesterday. Under the theme of “Leveraging the Distinctive Institutional and Cultural Strengths of Macao to Promote the Implementation of the Global Governance Initiative”, the competition attracted about 170 students from 8 higher education institutions. Eight competitors made it to the finals. After intense competition, Fan Zile, a student from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science of City University of Macau (CityU), stood out and won the championship.

Fan’s speech title is Macao as the bridge – to the covenant of governance, to the dream of youth. With the theme “Macao as the bridge”, she shared her connection with Macao. Influenced by her family, Fan aspired to become a bridge for communication between China and the world from a young age. Her international experiences enabled her to see the dilemmas of global governance. Macao’s inclusiveness and mutual beneficial mindset offered her the answer and solidified her belief to convey an equal and sincere voice of China using her youthful power.

Looking forward, CityU will continue to leverage Macao unique regional and institutional advantages, enhance talent cultivation for external affairs and enrich diplomatic science popularization, international exchanges, and academic practical activities. The University will encourage more students to cultivate a strong sense of patriotism and international literacy and shoulder the mission of the times, so that they will actively align with the development needs of national diplomacy and global governance, showcase the style of Macao’s youth in international exchanges, and promote Macao’s international cooperation and exchanges and the development of China’s external affairs.
