Rector Shu Guang Zhang, Director of Administrative Division Wicky K.H.So, Head of Academic Affairs Office and Professor of Macau Big Data Research Centre for Urban Governance Cai Zhiming, Head of Human Resources Office Chu Te Lin and Director of Student Affairs Office Zhou Pin Qiu visited the Office for Personal Data Protection of Macau on 17 March. They were warmly received by Head of the Office Fong Man Chong, Deputy Head Yeung Shing Wai, Senior Technician Ao Chio Heng and Choi Sao Leng. Both parties conducted a meeting on the personal data protection of Macau and university. During the meeting, Rector Zhang introduced the development of CityU and stressed that our university has drawn successful management experience from global metropolitan universities and that CityU is establishing its academic excellence in humanities, business and scientific advancement with the development orientation aligning with that of Macau and the region. CityU looks out to a broader international governance and management perspective and strives to construct a high-quality teaching and management echelon. Regarding the personal data protection for tertiary institutions, CityU looks forward to the guidance from the experts at the Office and has invited them to conduct seminars at our universities to share their views and experience on the relationship between urban renewal, university development, establishment of smart city and the protection of personal data. Head of the Office Fong welcomed the visit of the delegation and acclaimed the ethos and characteristics of CityU. Moreover, he introduced the functions and work responsibilities of the Office and hoped that the different social classes and associations can express their opinions on the updates and perfection of the “Personal Data Protection Act”. Meantime, the Office will support the university’s implementation, education and research on personal data protection. |
