The Geopolitics of Iran, a collective work by Dr. Francisco Leandro, Associate-Dean of the Institute for Research on Portuguese-Speaking Countries at the City University of Macau, has been published by the international publisher Palgrave Macmillan, offering perspectives in reviewing Iran’s role in contemporary geopolitics.
The book is launched under co-authorship with Dr. Carlos Branco, researcher of the Portuguese Institute of International Relations in Portugal, and Dr. Flavius Caba-Maria, President of the Middle East Political and Economic Institute in Romania.
With contributions from over 20 scholars, the book examines three main intertwining circles: Iran’s development and political challenges, its relationships with neighboring countries, and its relations with the major global powers – China, the European Union, Russia, and the United States.
The Geopolitics of Iran decodes various critical aspects of contemporary geopolitics of the Middle East country, such as modern history, natural resources, the economy, the social-political context as well as strategic thinking. The book offers both a bilateral and multilateral dimension on how nuclear sanctions imposed on Iran have impacted its strategic planning, from the economic and military perspectives.
