The Global Tourism Economy Forum is an interactive discussion platform designed to explore current issues in global tourism. Representatives from World Tourism Organization, World Travel & Tourism Council, Pacific Asia Travel Association, National Tourism Administration of the PRC, and world renowned leaders from tourism and hospitality industries were in attendance. The two-day forum provided great opportunity to the faculty and students to meet leaders of tourism and hear their opinions on the development trends of tourism. They also had the chance to experience the international atmosphere for tourism development and research in Macau. FITM doctoral students participating in the Forum stated that they got a wealth of information through this academic activity and hoped that they could participate in similar academic exchange activities in the future.
The second Global Tourism Economy Forum was conceived by the China Chamber of Tourism, hosted by the Macau SAR Government and coordinated by the Global Tourism Economy Research Centre. It was held at the Macau Tower on September 18-19, 2013.
