Faculty of International Tourism and Management: Internship opportunities help you increase overall competitiveness

In line with the mission of “promoting innovative teaching and scientific research, cultivating high-quality tourism talents, and fostering social harmony and prosperity”, the Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM) of the City University of Macau (CityU) is committed to developing into an influential institution which is keeping with international standards with outstanding characteristics and highly engaged in industry-academia collaborations in Macao and the Asia Pacific region.

All programmes are accredited by international institutions

• FITM’s hospitality and tourism management offerings ranked the 52nd among the top 20% of universities worldwide in the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021.
• FITM takes the lead in offering undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programmes in Macao, all accredited by the TedQual Certification by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). It strives to nurture interdisciplinary professionals in line with its commitment to achieving high-quality development.
• In line with Macao’s economic development, FITM offers four programmes, namely, the Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management, the Master of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, the Master of International Hotel Management, and the Doctor of Philosophy in International Tourism Management.
• The Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management programme nurtures professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry with the view of enhancing professionalism, service quality and competitiveness of the industry. Students can enrol elective courses, and completing either one or various major courses such as hotel management, leisure and spa management, food and beverage management, MICE management, gaming and club management, or intelligent tourism management, to acquire multiple skills to enhancing competitiveness and employment.

Ample opportunities promote comprehensive development

• • Each year, FITM offers short-term and long-term internship programmes in Macao, mainland and overseas to help students gain deeper insights into the industry. Its internship programmes also provide senior students with positions in the job markets.
  • The faculty invites prominent experts, scholars, and industrial grants to host seminars and lectures to share cutting-edge information and knowledge on the campus, allowing students and the faculty to learn in face-to-face interaction.

• FITM has teamed up with universities, enterprises and institutions at home and abroad, offering plenty of exchange and academic collaboration opportunities through multiple formats. Partner institutions include MODUL University Vienna (Austria), Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (Austria), Groupe ESC Troyes En Champagne (France), and higher education institutions in China, namely, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, South China University of Technology, Hunan Normal University, Guizhou University of Nationalities, China Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, East China Normal University.
• To support student employment and enhance competitiveness, FITM has introduced various accredited training programmes. These high-calibre vocational programmes and qualifications, such as the one offered by the Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLEI) and the IHG Academy by the InterContinental Hotels Group plc, not only help students enhance their professionalism and broaden their career prospects but also help them achieve interdisciplinary development.
