Flag Raising Ceremony at the CityU Kicked Start the New Academic Year

On the morning of 9th October, the City University of Macau held a national flag raising ceremony at the Taipa campus to cultivate students' patriotism and love of Macao. It also embodied the best wishes our teachers and students had for the motherland and Macao SAR as they welcomed the new academic year together.

In order to avoid large crowds of people and allow more teachers and students to participate, the flag raising ceremony was both carried out on site and broadcasted live online. 18 members of the national flag guard team escorted the national flag of the People’s Republic of China, the flag of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the flag of the City University of Macau and marched towards the flag-raising podium in uniform pace with firm and forceful steps. As the powerful national anthem began to play, the national flag, SAR flag and school flag were raised and teachers and students stood solemnly and sang the national anthem together.

CityU has always attached great importance to developing students’ love for the country and hometowns as well as their cultural quality. It works relentlessly towards the goal of building an internationally competitive metropolitan university by paying great efforts to launching national education, striving to cater for the development needs of the country and region in order to cultivate more young talent who, with the country and hometowns at heart, “Love the Country and Love Macao”.
