A delegation from Guizhou Minzu University composed of Vice Rector Prof. Fan Y.L and Prof. Xia W.S visited the FITM City U recently to discuss cooperation on tourism education and scientific research. Prof. Aliana Leong, Vice Rector of City U and the staff of FITM warmly welcomed the guests. Guizhou Minzu University was founded on May 17, 1951 under the jurisdiction of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. As one of the first minority-oriented universities in China, it is a key provincial higher education institute sponsored jointly by the People’s Government of Guizhou Province and the State Commission for Nationalities. Prof. Aliana Leong introduced the development status of FITM and City U, especially the preliminary achievements on education and scientific research. She mentioned that the Macau S.A.R. Government has undertaken the plan of leasing part of the original site of the University of Macau to City University of Macau in 2014 and the teaching facilities and environments of FITM are further optimized. Establishing cooperative relationship with excellent universities and colleges facilitates the development of tourism education and scientific research. Prof. Fan noted the rapid development of FITM with appreciation and especially mentioned the achievements of FITM in developing higher quality and branding programs, earning the UNWTO TedQual certification, practicing Industry-University collaboration, and promoting practical learning and internationalized learning environment. Prof. Fan said that tourism is an important industrial sector of Guizhou Province. He enthusiastically anticipates more interaction and cooperation between the two schools on cultivating excellent tourism professionals. After the discussion, a cooperation agreement was signed between Guizhou Minzu University and the FITM City U. Prof. Fan extended an invitation to Prof. Aliana Leong to pay a return visit in the future. |
