He Lianghui, deputy secretary of CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee, leads delegation to visit CityU to explore potential collaboration

A delegation led by He Lianghui, deputy chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee), visited City University of Macau yesterday and was warmly received by Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei. The delegation toured the campus environment and teaching facilities, and the two sides exchanged views on talent cultivation and industry-university-research cooperation. CityU Pro-Rector Chan Chon Pat also participated in the meeting.

Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei provided an overview of CityU’s development in terms of history, curriculum setting, student cultivation, and international exchange and cooperation. Deputy Chairman He Lianghui introduced Yunnan and key industries in the province. He stated that Yunnan’s unique topography and landscapes are conducive to the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and the variety of Chinese herbal medicines has led to rapid development in TCM related industries. He mentioned that the province also has rich tourism resources, and currently ranks second in China for the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites after Beijing. He shared the ongoing development of local industries, which requires the assistance of universities and industry-university-research collaboration in order to achieve greater achievement.

Going forward, both sides hope to harness the respective strengths to strengthen cooperation in disciplines and industries such as health and tourism, and further explore the potential collaboration in research-based study trips and short-term training programs.
