The M. Ed. and Ed. D. Programs of the Institute of Macau Development of the CityU commenced in September this year with a big bang as accomplished scholars headed by Prof. Wang C. Y, Provost of Kaohsiung Normal University, Taiwan taught the first course, Change of Educational Institution. Prof. Aliana Leong, Vice-Rector of City U introduced other teachers: Prof. Zhang Weiyuan, Principal Investigator of HKU SPACE, teaching Advanced Educational Research Methods; Prof. Liu Baocun, Dean of the Comparative Education Research Center of Beijing Normal University, teaching Globalization and Comparative Study of Education; Prof. Zeng Wenhua, Director of HongKong Wan Wai Institute and former Academic Vice-Rector of Caritas Community and Higher Education Service. The Institute of Macau Development, City U aims to fill the shortage of programs of M.Ed. and Ed. D. in Macau, spearhead the development of high quality education system for graduates of education, cultivate high-level educational leaders for Macau surrounding areas, and further push rapid development of first-rate Macau education forward. Both programs have three areas: Educational Administration, Adult Education and Educational Information Technology. The programs are so welcomed by students in Macao and the neighboring regions that there were far more applicants than expected, more than half are local Macau students.
