Let Love Knocks on Every Door – CityU Volunteer Team Organised a Series of Events to Acknowledge the Elderly

With the support of Respect Senior General Association of Macao, CityU Volunteer Team has organised the “Acknowledge the Elderly Series”. The Student Affairs Office has coordinated 30 members of the CityU Volunteer Team to visit 20 singleton elderlies and present them with necessities and the warmest greeting On the day of the event, the volunteers visited seniors living alone, who many are already in their 80s and 90s and some are not very mobile. The aim of the event is to bring happiness to the seniors whose offspring are not by their sides. Thus, the volunteers told the elderlies their stories at university and the culture and heritage of their hometown. The elderlies in return told the students their experience when they were young. Laughter did not cease during the entire visit. Leader of the Volunteer Team Mr. Chao Chan Chong hoped that students can learn how to love their friends and family as well as develop the spirit of contribution for the society. It is believed that the Volunteer Team will achieve even more after this event. |
