A delegation from the National Open University (NOU) Taiwan composed of Associate Prof. Liu J.N, Associate Prof. Lin L.C, Associate Prof. Li S.J, Assistant Prof. Lin G.Y, and Assistant Prof. Zhang Y.Y recently visited the School of Continuing Studies (SCS), City University of Macau. The main agenda of the NOU delegation’s visit included understanding the main curricula and the industry-academy cooperation schemes of the SCS and discussing future cooperation between NOU and SCS City U in the field of distance learning. Prof. Aliana Leong, Vice-Rector of City U, warmly received the delegation and introduced to them the development of City U and the SCS, the features, brand and especially the industry-academy cooperation schemes of the SCS. Prof. Leong said that with the joint support of internationally known enterprises and the university, student participants of these schemes are able to accumulate precious work experience and gain promotion prospects in prominent hotels in Macau while studying at the university in a financially, self-reliant way. The NOU delegation also put forward their opinions on students’ internship—as the students of NOU are scattered all over Taiwan, organizing internships is a huge challenge. In recent years, NOU has devotedly adjusted its offerings in response to social demands. The NOU delegation expressed their recognition of the development of the SCS and their keen interest in MICE, Leisure Management, and Catering Management curricula. Both parties presented their detailed development process and future goals on distance learning, exchanged views and proposed strategic suggestions for further cooperation between the two institutions. |
