Opening Ceremony for Malaysian Chinese Independent Schools Student Study Tour takes place at CityU Macau

To promote the internationalization of higher education, the Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) has organized multiple visits of local higher education institutions to Malaysia in recent years, resulting in several cooperation agreements with Malaysian educational organizations. To encourage international students to study in Macao, DSEDJ supported the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) in organizing a study tour for 27 students from ten Malaysian Chinese independent high schools, which took place from September 15 to 21.
This study tour focused on tourism management and included visits to local higher education institutions, learning relevant tourism programs, and engaged in exchange sessions with Macao secondary school students, gaining insights into the development of various industries in Macao.

The opening ceremony for the study tour group was held at CityU Macau, attended by Deputy Director of the Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau, Teng Sio Hong, Rector Jun Liu, and Director of the Student Affairs Department of the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong), Shim Boon Haw.
Deputy Director Teng noted that the Bureau has been actively organizing visits for local higher education institutions to Malaysia for educational fairs and exchanges, resulting in various cooperation agreements. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance promotional activities and educational services aimed at Malaysian students.
Rector Liu highlighted the close collaboration between CityU Macau and Malaysian high schools, expressing hopes that this exchange would encourage more Malaysian students to pursue their studies in Macao.
Director Shim remarked that Macao’s multicultural educational environment is an ideal choice for Malaysian students, stating that efforts will be made to encourage even more Malaysian students to study in Macao in the future.

DSEDJ will continue to strengthen educational cooperation with Malaysia, encouraging international students to come to Macao for study tours and degree programs. This initiative aims to promote the internationalization of higher education in Macao and building a connection for international student recruitment. Additionally, it seeks to support the Greater Bay Area in becoming a hub for innovation in higher education.
